Renaissance Marble and Granite President and Founder Mark Hernandez has been working in the stone and granite industry for more than 24 years and opened the doors of Renaissance Marble and Granite 19 years ago. With more than 70 employees in three locations, Mr. Hernandez oversees all operations and marketing efforts, manages the company’s finances, approves all purchases and acquisitions, and supervises the general managers of Renaissance’s two remote locations in Philadelphia and the Bronx section of New York City.

When Mr. Hernandez launched Renaissance, his goal was to be able to run his saw the way he wanted it run. He refuses to allow Renaissance to be pigeonholed simply as a granite fabricator or kitchen supplier. Rather, Renaissance provides a high-end product and quality service on jobs competitors won’t or can’t do. Mr. Hernandez explains, “I want to get the work from people who would turn it down because it’s not their kind of work. That’s something we’ve never done: turn down challenging work.” Whether it’s cladding a building in Manhattan, repairing marble or fabricating a complex design in granite, Renaissance is up to the challenge.

The ability to do specialized work is something of which Mr. Hernandez is justifiably proud. He entered the industry when it was more of a skilled craft and less automated, and he has carried that mindset through all aspects of his business to this day. Mr. Hernandez acknowledges, “Our customer wants to have a good experience from someone they can believe in. I’m not just going to throw some granite at a job. We’re professional and diligent.”
